Character Name: Jax
Type of Character: Nox mage (well, I am working on it)
Skills: GM magery, meditationin high 90's, evaluate intel and resist spells in high 80's, inscription 75, wrestling and poisoning 60's.
RolePlay Experience?: I was part of a roleplay guild on UO prior to my departure of the game years ago.
PvP Experience?: I used to PvP. No PvP in 2+ years.
Are you a NEW to UO player?: I guess I should be considered an old NEW UO player. The game has changed much from the time I left. I have been playing again for over 5 months and still learning new stuff everyday.
Do you have a sponser? No sponser
Race of Character: Human
Character Background: Male, 5'8, 32 yrs old. Not much his known of his past and Jax tries to keep it that way. When asked about his birthplace and parents, he will admit wishing he knew more about himself as well. Inexplicably, he has no memories about his childhood until his teenage years and already living on the streets of Britain. He often has nightmares and visions of a family being attacked by brigands near Vesper and he can't stop thinking that perhaps that was his parents and his last memory of them. The streets of Britain were harsh for a teenage boy and it was only a matter of time until Jax found that living a criminal life was the only way he could survive. Now at the age of 32, Jax is on a new mission for fame and power.
How did you hear of the Dark Order?: I read some posts on the Atlantic roleplay community board and it got me interested. Then I found a book that said D\O was recruiting and here I am.
WHY do you wish to join the Dark Order?: I started playing UO again a few months ago and got back into it. I'd like to start roleplaying again but tired of being the good guy so D|O was my first choice.

You had once said you had some questions about D|O. Last night was a busy one for me, so I do apologize for not being able to think clearly enough to do it then, but I (or anyone really), can try to answer any questions you might have now. You can ask here, in a pm to someone, or an icq. However you'd like. Your char bio sheet pretty much answered most of the questions I had about you.
Your name was submitted in the Dark Council section & you'll hear word back very soon, probably on icq if we're on at the same time. I would like to get your questions answered first though if it is a matter of you joining or not. Also, I need to give others time to ask any questions that they might have for the other leaders to consider.
Thanks for the bio & Talk with you soon.

Actually, I took more time to browse thru the forum and the various topics answered the majority of my questions. I had questions about ranks, uniforms and guild weekly events. According to the information I read, you have it all!
I really like how the guild is composed and well structured, good job on that. The more I read about D|O and the more interested I am in joining.
I do have a few questions that perhaps I missed while reading the forum. Here is my situation/questions.
I really don't have dozen of great characters to play with. Jax, although some of his skills are still very low is probably my best character (besides a merchant character) so I am wondering if it is still possible to go do some PvM just for the fun of it?
Will our enemies (or even friends) force me into roleplay? Do I have the right to tell them I am taking a break from RP? Or am I expected to roleplay my character 24/7 whenever I am online?
I don't want to sound like I am not interested in roleplaying, it's really the opposite but I like to hit a few dungeons here and there and see how far I can get in it. Yes, I most of the time end up dying but that's part of the "game"!
I would be more than happy to answer any questions you have for me.
Thanks for considering me.

What we try to instill to everyone about RP is one simple rule of thought: When your on your D|O character, you -are- your D|O character. You'd stay IC from the time you click on your character's name to the time you log him/her out. (It's easier to remember & keeps RP rules down to a minimum.) IF you own a house however, then it is -your- house and only you & OSI say what the rules are inside that house. Yes, there is a fair ammount of PvM hunting. Normally done as a last minute thing, like, "Hey, wanna go hunt some *insert random monster here*?". And from what I've seen will involve a duo or small size group. Our hunt master, Morwen, has planned a few PvM Guild Hunts, but almost always something happens that cancels it or causes not many to show up. It would be great if we could get more to attend those. D|O members, me included, talk OOC ALOT in Guildchat. Maybe too much sometimes. lol So, I don't think anyone in the guild feels too too smothered by RPing onscreen since they have the OOC outlet with the Guild/Alliance chat. Oh, but if you were to accidentally go OOC ig onscreen, then don't be surprised if you get beaten to death by one or more of your guild brothers/sisters. Thats just us caring for a brother so much that we want to help and "beat" the "insanity" that has temporairly taken hold of you. *smiles*
Oh wow, the weekly schedule. That only really applies between wars and sometimes is a pain because ppl are recovering from the sometimes intense schedule of both planned and random battles and raids that they fail to show up for what should be important guild things, like a Pre Battle Meeting, Guild training, ect. Talk to Nick about attendance for some of the events. I'm sure he'd have an ear full for ya. lol We also have THE worse timing & luck when we schedule an event too. Like, not knowing another guild had a Grand Tavern Opening (a big draw for rp'ers), or some BIG political rally. Those two things happened to our last two events and the turn out for the D|O events was pretty sad. It's hard to know what guild is doing what all the time, so, I guess we need an event planner that keeps the schedules straight. I will say though, that the ones who show for all types of events, not just battles, are well thought of and normally the first ones I seek out to help me with rp things elsewhere. Being active matters & I try my best to reward that however I can.
Forced roleplay. If you don't think you want to RP, then don't log into your character. However, no one can force you to rp what you don't want to rp. This has happened to me alot, and yeah, ppl will whine that I didnt go along w/ the rp and get kidnapped or assassinated. I try to avoid these things through rp. (for one that has gotten kidnapped & jailed alot, it can get a bit overdone for a while & uninteresting, so if I don't want to be go along with it every single time, I think D|O will understand & I'm pretty sure they'd get tired of "rescuing" Ditto (my alt) all the time. If you find yourself in a situation where you've stumbled into some rp story that you really don't want to be into, then rp out of it & if you need help doing that, explain it to someone and ask for help doing it. If all else fails, just log out. RP should never be unfun. Godmoding, this is what I think of when someone says "forced" RP. It's when someone RP's something that either their character shouldn't be able to do OR when they rp an action against your character that gives you no chance to counter. It's unrealistic & completely unfair to others. Using emotes like *attempts to...grab you*, *tries to..shove you*, *moves to...attack you* can help out alot in avoiding godmod.
