(Logan sleeps in the barracks at D|O, as he sleeps he dreams, of what he wished was forgotten),
Rain falls in Umbra, the coldness and dreariness would make most humans depressed. Umbra its self was home to but a few humans, since they seem to be hunted by them blood sucking vampires, quite often. Near the Umbra Bank a small child plays merrily, in the rain. His does not seem to worry about the vampires, ghouls, and werewolves, nor does the ever present warlock, witch, or rogue, bother him. To Logan it was home, and playing in the mud was better any day than a sunny field. Of course Logan is not totally human, Logan’s father Charles BlackRose was a Lycan and Necromancer of substantial power, and Jean BlackRose, though a fair woman was the daughter of Lord Dark Wind, of the Fan Dancers on Isamu-Jima Island, and quite skilled in the art of shadow walking and the use of the Tekagi. Though his parents hoped him to be born with the seed of a necromancer in his heart, Logan was born human. Though discouraged, they loved him as any parent would. With his fathers schooling, and his mothers training he grew to be quite an amazing child. His impressive skill at shadow walking, above human agility, quick healing, and to his fathers liking, showed signs of the ability to shape shift. He did have a withdrawn and savage behavior that though was not unusual, but Logan did not like playing with other kids his age. Though playing was a word of little use in his vocabulary.
Paladin’s, though righteous in there cause, are no more brutal than any undead. Logan remembers the day quite well; there was a horseman that ran, frantically through the village that Logan and his parents lived, yelling “Sanctus approaches, Sanctus approaches”. Soon after, soldiers appeared, setting homes on fire, killing those that tried to flee, in their so called, “Cleansing”. “Jean”, said Charles, “Get Logan, and head to Umbra, you will be safe there, I will kill these trespassers.” As Logan and his mom ran from the house towards Umbra, Logan looked back to see his father gallantly fighting the soldiers of Sanctus. Logan knew that would be the last he would see of his father, the scream of death is unmistakable.
As Jean and Logan entered Umbra, there were several families there, well parts of them anyway. As they tried to find out what provoked this attack, several vampires walked up to the group, seriously wounded. “We need to feed”, said the one as he tried to grab Logan, “This child’s blood smells to good.” said he. Jean grabbed Logan, “Go feed on the Paladin’s of Sanctus, if you are so hungry”, the vamp laughed and retorted “Why when there is a morsel here”. Jean pulled out her Tekagi (claws) and looked towards the moongate, she will save her son. She placed a slip of paper in Logan’s pants and whispered, “Run my son, into the moongate, say Isamu-Jima, and give that paper to a healer nearby, he will take you to your grandfather, remember me son, Umbra and Sanctus will one day, I hope, meet their fate, at your hands”. Logan ran toward the gate, the vampire rushed at him, SNEEERRT, steel claws ripped in to his chest, the other vampire grabbed Jean, by her hair, as her neck was exposed his fangs sinked into her.
Logan never looked back as he entered the moongate, he knew though, he would return to Umbra one day, somehow and avenge his parents.
(Logan wakes up, hearing movement in the keep, "Must be the cook", he thinks to himself, "Some ale and meat sounds good".)
