((Formerly posted originally to be a note about New Haven, I got on a Recruitiing roll. Use this as a guideline & to answer a few basic questions for when you go out to recruit or how to treat recruits.))
I've been spending some more time in New Haven lately on old and brand new chars. I've been seeing how we, as a guild, and as roleplayers could use the area best for recruiting and what not.
Point blank, the members who are now in D|O, well, we KNOW what we're doing and how to do it. (most of it) And it can get old very fast if we stay in DarkCove for everything. I've tried to establish a sense of DarkCove as being OUR home. OUR territory. And making sure everyone was comfortable with it. It seems that that has happened.
NOW, we look elsewhere. New Haven. Not to conquor it in the normal way as in a land holding, but to define the art of roleplay and recruiting. I'd like us to be a viable force there. A common sight for others to see the dark crest of the D|O.
I would like us to "help" others there. Young and New players. This is going to sound like a bribe but yes, just handiing a player a simple 1k can do a few possitive things. Open the door for rp conversation, recruitment, and if nothing else, just simply helping out a new character.
**I do not, by any means, want ppl to be bribed to join the D|O. Remember: We need to size them up for a willingness to learn and the ability to work with others. So don't just go up to someone and say "hey, I'll give you 10k to join the D|O". That's disrespectful of everything the D|O stands for. If you want to give them 10k, 100k, 1mil, to help them out, then fine, give it to them, but NOT to join the guild.**
*ANY member may bring anyone into DarkCove as their guest. But, a "Young" player cannot travel to fel. Tours are good. Armunn Keep is open for your guests as well, but you'll have to open the doors for them. The PUB is always open to all.
*Do not try to talk a new player into giving up Young status.
*Guests are expected to act appropriatly (warn us if your guest is new to rp so we dont kill them for saying lol or something. hehe)
*Putting a new person in as a Recruit into D|O can be done by one of the following: The GM (me), the Warlord (Mairsil), or a Division Leader (Legion, Arcane, Shadow). HOWEVER, only the GM and the Warlord may give approval for them to train for the ranks of the DarkOrder. (I'm adding a new rank to the ladder to distinguish "hopeful" members and "accepted trainees". Recruits and Privates. Recruits will train in basic UO survival and are on a waiting list for the next meeting to see if they can become a Private to train for the D|O itself. At the meeting, which could be hours or days, it will be Imy or Mairs who will say if they stay and become a Private or must leave.
(Not all will have what it takes to be D|O, but most who don't may still be fine enough to be a DarkCove Citizen if they wish. (not quite evil enough, lawful enough, or lacks the ego/attitude.)
*"Recruit" ooc insanity will be tollerated at a minimum. If they enjoy LOL, dude, * smileys a little too much, they should communicate in party only until basic rp improves. This is for their own safety.*
*"Private" ooc insanity will NOT be tollerated. Beating the "insanity" out of our young brother or sister is not only ok, but encouraged. Afterall, we worry for our family members and dont want insanity to harm them do we? By beating them, we show that we care. *smiles* (btw, any rank may beat any other rank, so I hope Im not walking by and see a Private beatiing a Captain one day...)
*Training & Duties of a new member will be given & monitored by the Division leader.
*It is the duty of ALL D|O to train their own. Everyone is encouraged to help in the training of lower ranks. Sparring, huntiing, & rp.
((since this post was just suppose to be a note about New Haven, but turned more into a How-To & Rule book on recruiting, I'll be reposting this as a guide in another section. ))
