Dearest Journal,
I write to you with the utmost concern for society. Hopefully you will be able to allow me to work through my issues and find answers to my questions.
Each man I have encountered since my departure from Britain seems to be lacking the most lusted after quality in a man; a sincere ability to be chivalrous. I have traveled from Luna to Sanctus to Umbra and not even one man has offered me a seat or opened the door. I find this rather odd, for when I lived as an actress in Britain, I had numerous men offering me more than just their chair. One man even offered me his home, along with all of his livestock, if only I would marry him.
Now that I have landed in Cove, I find myself continuously asking myself the same question over and over. What has happened to people’s manners? My encounters have led me to believe that most men completely lack the manners that my parents so vigorously instilled in me. For instance, just the other night, I saw a young girl dueling against a man. Not only was that appalling, but she was doing so in front of other women! Men allowing women to fight and then openly fighting her in front of others. What an idiotic concept! One that I do not entirely understand.
And another thing…what is it with men and fidelity all of the sudden? If a man wishes pleasure from another woman, the wife should kindly oblige. It is a woman’s place to please her husband, no matter how the pleasure is dealt. How very odd indeed. The entirety of the realms is not exactly what I had expected. I am, at the moment, at a loss of words, which is met with a hint of disappointment.
So far I have formed three questions that I wish to hopefully find the answers to in my journeys: Where has chivalry gone? Why have men and women lose a sense of their place? Why are parents not teaching their children proper etiquette?
Until I next write.
